Dreaming of a hot end of summer, we tried our hand at a classic thirst quencher: a saison. It is not as low in alcohol as the original versions cooling down Belgian farmworkers, but its 4.6% still allows for more than one when the August sun lights up our terrace. Despite its sessionable qualities this is far from a plain beer. The extended fermentation period saisons require gives it a beautiful dryness, with a slightly spicy yeast profile. The Centennial and Nelson Sauvin hops provide a fresh hoppyness. A very interesting brew that will appeal to beginning craft beer drinkers as well as the more – eh – seasoned beer lovers.
The Saison IJ-pont is unfortunately sold out.
