The windmill next to our brewery does not look like it normally does these days. Its sails are gone. Blown away, like they did in a storm, like they did in 1972? Nope, they are off for maintenance.
The metal got a little rusty after exposure to Dutch weather for three decades and part of the woodwork started to sigh a little too heavily under its weight. Time to replace these essential parts of the wooden giant.
It will take about a month or so but when the work is done, the sails will be ready for another eighty years.
It is not possible to see the windmill from within, but our terrace is the perfect spot to admire it from outside. With a glass of great beer in hand, of course.
