Café Struis is a new meeting place at Brouwerij ‘t IJ in Amsterdam East. It is a nice café for the neighborhood – with a terrace and a good glass of beer. We open on September 21, so feel free to join us for a toast?
In 1985, people sometimes drank a bottle of beer that was stored in the basement of the brewery. A year later that moment moved to the ground floor where also an old jukebox was placed. The brewery was open to local residents and businesses every Friday afternoon. We live that same feeling at Café Struis. Here you can drink a cup of coffee in the morning with your newspaper or end the day in the late evening. In between, Struis does what she does best: providing you with all the beers from her repertoire.
Right next to Proeflokaal De Molen
The café can be found right under Molen De Gooyer, next to Proeflokaal De Molen. The beer bottle collection on display in the tasting room will also be on display here. This way it immediately feels like home.
One wall is reserved for a collection of ostrich eggs that will become increasingly colorful over time. Each time an artist tackles a new egg. Def P, Michiel Romeijn, Aukje Dekker and a few others already made their contributions. It will be a colorful collection of artistic eggs.
