We were the only microbrewery in Amsterdam for years but in the last couple of years this has changed dramatically. A host of new brewers are infusing what has quickly grown into a lively local craft beer scene with new energy and ideas. One of the breweries that stand out among the newcomers is De Vriendschap (“the friendship”). After their hobby got out of hand the two homebrewing friends Aart and Peter occupied the former dressing rooms of a football club on the outskirts of Amsterdam Noord and labelled it their “brew lab”. They brew hundred litre batches of something different with great frequency and send the fruitful results of their experiments off in stylish magnum bottles. The quality of the content of these 75cl units is remarkably consistent.
